Wow these past two weeks have been so hectic, with unpacking from Miss Teenage Canada and packing for TopModel Search. , thanks to my biggest sponsors, my parents. Well, it’s my first full day here, and so far it’s been fun. Meeting new girls, and catching up with some of my Miss Teenage Canada friends, plus Michelle and Christi. I am so happy to be here, and will try my absolute during this competition!! I hope everyone is enjoying the rest of their summers, because school’s coming up!! I miss you all!
Wow, I don’t even have words to say other than that was the BEST WEEK EVER! Thank you to Christi, Michelle, Marlon, Courtney and Jill for creating a week I will always remember.
So many events, so much memories and so much fun, and I thank my friends who made this all happen. We all really became great friends and I know that we will always keep in touch and never forget one another.
Congratulations to Francesca McFadden for winning the title we all came for, Miss Teenage Canada 2014. I hope you have a year of success and improving the world to become a better place.
Thank you again for making this week so wonderful, and really memorable. I hope you girls each had an amazing time as I had and I really hope to keep in touch!
Yesterday was really a memorable day. We started off the day by heading to the Grenadier Reataurant in High Park, where we enjoyed the delicious breakfast of toast, bacon and eggs. After our meal was complate, we headed back to the hotel for a couple hours of rehearsals. Once rehearsals were finished, we were allowed to go to our rooms to get ready for supper at Medieval Times.
Once we arrived to Medieval Times, we were seated in a stadium chereing for the red team! It was so excitig to see who would win, and we were so excited when the red team beat the evil knight and it was announced that the red team won! After the show, we had time to take pictures with people, and with some of the characters from the performance. It was a fun night especially when we got on the bus and had a party. It was a perfect way to excited for preliminaries! I’m on my phone right now, you can view photos on my Facebook page, N’Keyah: Miss Teenage Woodbridge 2014
Yesterday, the girls and I traveled to Global. We aired on the local and national show so our families can watch. Some girls answered questions pulled from a hat, and I have to say that they did a great job! After that, we came back to the hotel for lunch, and we traveled to the Eaton Centre for shopping! It was so fun, and thank you to the Eaton Centre for giving us $10 gift cards, which we used for the food court. Even though I live in Woodbridge, which is 20 minutes from Toronto, I don’t really go to the Eaton Centre too much! Thank you so much, #TOthecity! Look at my Facebook page N’Keyah: Miss Teenage Woodbridgr 2014 for pictures, sorry in on my phone!
Today was a great day. Even though it started off as dark and tiresome, as we were to wake up 4 am in the morning, after a little waking up, we were off and ready to be guests on Breakfast Television. That was an awesome experience for me since at home I watch that show with my parents, and being on the other side of the camera screen was a whole new feeling. After out segment on Breakfast TV was complete, we headed off in our bus to High Park where we enjoyed a lovely breakfast prepared by Grenadier Restaurant. After eating we drove back home and ate a fantastic meal provided by Panera Breads. After finishing up, we headed off the Yorkdale and had a shopping spree in Bench, who gave each girl a $25 gift card. Thank you so much to all these generous people, I know it’s going to be a good week!
Wow, today was our official first day competing at this pageant. To kick off this fun-filled week, there was a welcome party with very special guests, sponsors that helped make this possible for us. HI-Tec supplied us with comfy and cute sandals, Wright Spa Mobile Services offered us massages and gift cards, Motives gave each girl a nail polish bottle, and Golden Glamour Goddesses provided eaCh girl who wanted one a spray tan. This was a great way to start the week by getting to know the girls and learning about one another. Thank you to all of our generous sponsors for all of the gifts and support you have given this competition and thank you to Michelle and Christi for all of the hard work. I am so excited for the events to come during the week!
Today, there are lots of showcases and pageants out there. But the largest Teen Competition in Canada is owned and produced by a woman named Michelle Weswaldi http://www.missteenagecanada.com/about-mtcw/meet-the-team, which began in 2008. This pageant really worth it because other than being the largest pageant in Canada, it also has the most media exposure, celebrity hosts and judging panel, past celebs include Angeline McDonald and Matthew Collins. The winner of Miss Teenage Canada (www.missteenagecanada.com) gets to compete in Miss Teen Universe! Past winners include Lauren Sandhu and Lauren Howe.
Pageants have given me confidence because they make me realize that I am worthy of having a chance to compete in them. Before the Miss Teenage Canada pageant www.missteenagecanada.com, I was shy and not willing to talk to someone before they talked to me.
Now, after winning the title Miss Teenage Woodbridge 2014, it made realize that there was nothing to worry about. Recently, I was a guest at a clothing boutique called Zero 20 in my city, and I felt so comfortable talking to people and taking pictures with their kids. With this title, it has given me a higher stage to reach my goals, and what I plan to do with my title is carry out my platform: to ensure that all kids around the world have a proper education and a healthy lifestyle. I’ve already accomplished a very small part of that goal with my fundraising for Free the children, but there is so much more. Even after this upcoming pageant, I will still find ways to raise money and to donate to Free the Children.
Miss Teenage Canada www.missteenagecanada.com has recently launched a new sister competition called Top Model Search Canada www.topmodelsearchcanada.com. This competition is searching across the country of Canada for young girls between the ages of 17 and 26 . The 40+ finalists chosen will compete for not just the crown; but also a modeling contract in Toronto! The winner of this will become the next Miss Supranational Canada and runners up become
Miss Top Model of the World Canada and Miss Supermodel Canada International! Every finalist will get an opportunity to shine and get their big break by talking to agents.
In these types of pageants, all girls need to remember to be themselves, and not to be someone that they are not. Everyone has a purpose, and girls competing in this pageant, or in any pageant must know that they should be proud of themselves of who they are, and how far they have come. Not everyone gets a chance have this opportunity, whether they deserve it or not, and people who do get to have this privilege should savour it but most importantly be themselves and just have fun.
I wish all the girls competing in Top Model Search Canada www.topmodelsearchcanada.com and Miss Teenage Canada www.missteenagecanada.com a great time, and good luck. Don’t forget all the advise I have given you, just be yourself and people will like you for who you are. You are all beautiful, and have made it this far. 🙂
Just this past weekend, I had a memorable appearance at Zero 20, a fashionable children apparel boutique in Woodbridge. It was so much fun greeting the little girls and talking with the moms who very much wanted to know how they could possibly enter their daughters in the competition.
Watching all the girls look up to me, and wanting to take pictures with me realize how big and rewarding something like this is. This is a special memory that will be with me all my life and remembering how much little girls looked at me in awe.
We should all be proud of ourselves for making it so far, and as the completion is around the corner it will become more stressful, but remember that it was you who won the 2014 title of your hometown, and that’s what matters.
